Tra le verdi e rocciose vallate piemontesi della Valle Maira, dove in estate i prati fioriti regnano sul paesaggio e in inverno la neve ricopre tutto con il suo candido manto, esiste da sempre una leggenda: si narra che una donna che viveva sull’alpe, un giorno decise di andare a trovare i suoi figli emigrati in Francia. Era settembre, una tormenta improvvisa in quota la sorprese e morì. La donna però si trasformò in una farfalla e riuscì ugualmente ad andare a trovare i suoi amati figli. Si narra inoltre che ogni anno, la “strega buona” faccia ritorno alla sua maison. Da questa leggenda, nasce il nome dell’unico Albergo Diffuso presente in Piemonte, “Mascha Parpaja” che in italiano significa strega farfalla, altresì conosciuto come La Locanda degli Elfi.
L’AD è situato in una valle remota a Preit di Canosio, praticamente al confine con la Francia, nelle terre dove è fortissima l’influenza occitana e dove il dialetto locale è una vera e propria lingua indipendente, simile al francese. Case antiche, vecchie stalle e gallinai ristrutturati per accogliere i loro ospiti in un’ atmosfera di montagna autentica, calda e raccolta. Alla Locanda degli Elfi è possibile rilassarsi leggendo un libro davanti al camino oppure avventurarsi nelle ciaspolate invernali, scalare le cascate di ghiaccio e perdersi nel tempo visitando gli antichi borghi dell’alta Valle Maira.
Gustosissimi piatti cucinati direttamente dalla proprietaria Jennie per i propri ospiti, utilizzando solo materie prime biologiche e di provenienza locale, merende, degustazioni e pranzi al sacco preparati amorevolmente, per garantire ai propri ospiti sempre il massimo dell’esperienza, anche culinaria.
Jennie e Beppe sono i proprietari di un’AD ad esclusiva gestione famigliare, anche loro come tanti hanno avviato questo sogno dopo anni di lavoro d’ufficio, stanchi della vita frenetica, hanno deciso di tornare alle origini e mettere in atto un progetto per riportare alla vita questo piccolo paradiso di Piemonte. La stagione invernale sta arrivando e l’occasione è perfetta per trascorrere un soggiorno tra le meraviglie della natura piemontese e l’accoglienza calda e famigliare della Locanda degli Elfi.
There’s an old story, among the green and rocky Maira Valley in Piedmont, where the flowery fields dominate the scenery during summer, while the snow covers everything in winter: it is said that one day a woman, who used to live upon the Mountain, decided to go to see her sons, emigrated to France. It was September and a sudden storm came up, the woman couldn’t survive, but she fortunately turned into a butterfly and she finally could go to see her beloved sons. Moreover it is said that every year, the “good witch” comes back to her house. It is from this tale that the name of the only Albergo Diffuso in Piedmont comes from, “Mascha Parpaja” which means “butterfly witch”, or it is better known also as the Locanda degli Elfi.
The Albergo Diffuso is placed in Preit di Canosio, a far valley near the French border, in those lands where the Occitan influence is still very strong and where the local slang is a different language, very similar to the French one. Old houses, stables and hen-houses have been renovated to accomodate their guests in a authentic mountain atmosphere, warm and cosy. At the Locanda degli Elfi you can relax while reading a book in front of the fireplace or you can adventure in the winter walks, climb the frozen waterfalls and get lost in the past visiting the ancient villages of the Maira Valley.
Tasty dishes are prepared directly by the owner Jennie, for her guests, using only organic and local ingredients. Light meals, tasting menus, dinners and take-away lunches are lovely cooked to always guarantee the best experience to her guests.
Beppe and Jennie are the owners of this Albergo Diffuso, they have decided to realize their dream after years of deskwork, tired of the chaotic and busy life they have decided to go back to their origins and to revitalize this small paradise in Piedmont region. Winter season is coming and this is the perfect chance to spend a week end in the natural wonders of Piedmont, with a warm and familiar hospitality.
