Affacciato sulle limpide acque del mar Adriatico, il borgo antico di Termoli sfoggia una varietà di colori che ne contraddistinguono il carattere tipicamente mediterraneo.Conteso a lungo nei secoli, prima dai normanni, poi dai veneziani e in seguito dai turchi, Termoli fu più volte saccheggiato e incendiato, fino ad arrivare a un progressivo spopolamento che vede il suo culmine negli anni successivi al XVII secolo.
La rivalutazione di questo splendido borgo molisano risale solamente ad anni recenti. Il magnifico castello che sovrasta il paese è il simbolo stesso di Termoli, conosciuto come Castello Svevo risale probabilmente all’epoca normanna, ma dopo essere distrutto dai veneziani, fu ricostruito da Federico II di Svevia, da cui prese il nome. Il Castello era il fulcro di un ampio sistema di difesa, completato da mura possenti e da un sistema di torrette merlate.
Oggi Termoli è un centro turistico di grande interesse, sia per il patrimonio storico che offre, sia per il lungomare ricco di locali ed attività ludiche. Non solo però turismo di tipo balneare, ma anche un turismo più orientato alle proposte culturali e all’eno gastronomia molisana che qui, in riva all’Adriatico offre piatti davvero sorprendenti, nei quali non solo il pesce fa da protagonista, ma anche gli ingredienti genuini della terra.

Le camere presentano tutte un mobilio d’epoca abbinato con le tipiche colorazioni mediterranee: blu, bianco, giallo e turchese. Alcune di esse si affacciano direttamente sul mare, per godere di un panorama ineguagliabile.

Overlooking the clear water of the Adriatic Sea, the ancient village of Termoli shows a range of colours that clearly mark its mediterranean personality. It has been disputed all along the centuries, by Normans before, by Venetians then, and finally by Turks. Termoli has been plundered and burnt many times, until it gradually depopulated in the years following XVII century. The revaluation of this marvellous village in the Molise region has only recently started.
The wonderful Castle that dominates the whole city is the symbol of Termoli, it is known as the Castello Svevo and it is dated back to the Normans age, but after the Venetians destroyed it, Federico II di Svevia decided to rebuild it. The Castle was the main important part of a complex fortification system, completed by huge walls and towers.
Today, Termoli is an important tourist centre, both for its historical heritage and the seaside full of restaurant, bars and activities. Not only beach tourism but also a cultural and culinary kind of tourism is what deeply characterize the modern supply of Termoli. All along the Adriatic Sea, gastronomy is surprising, dishes are not only prepared with fish, but also with natural ingredients from the local agriculture.
