Nel tempo, certo, qualcosa è cambiato – sono stati introdotte nuove tinte, nuove serie e nuove forme –, hanno dovuto fare i conti con la crisi e con le nuove tecnologie, ma per la mia generazione, che con i Lego ci è cresciuta, quei mattoncini colorati conservano ancora un fascino particolare, che nasce da uno strano mix tra nostalgia, affetto e frequentazione di lunga data.
Ripresi e interpretati in mille ambiti diversi, dall’arte alla moda, dall’arredamento ai nuovi media, i Lego si sono sempre dimostrati un duttile alleato delle menti creative: tra queste, quella dell’artista newyorkese Sean Kennedy, da oltre 30 anni impegnato nell’indagare tutte le possibili espressioni e potenzialità dei Lego.
La sua ultima creazione, la Lego Lamp, è una lampada da tavolo che unisce la classicità degli abat-jour di una volta con l’originale stile pop dei Lego che ne compongono la base. Disponibile in cinque diversi modelli – Lexington, Mercer, Stanton, Devoe e Lafayette – di undici tonalità diverse, è costituita di un’anima in acciaio nascosta dai mattoncini di plastica e di un paralume in tessuto che diffonde delicatamente la luce.

Of course, over time, something has changed – new colours, new sets and new forms have been introduced – they deal with the crises and the new technologies, but for my generation that grew up with Lego, those coloured bricks still maintain a particular charm, made of an old strange mix among homesickness, affection and patronage.
Resumed and reinterpreted in thousands different purviews, from art to mode, from furniture to new medias, Lego have always been a ductile ally to creative minds: among these minds there is the one of Sean Kennedy, an artist from New York, engaged in finding all the possible expressions and potentialities of Lego for over 30 years.
His last creation, the Lego Lamp, is a table lamp that unifies the classical of an old abat-jour with the original pop style of Lego that makes the base.
It is available in five different models – Lexington, Mercer, Stanton, Devoe and Lafayette – and you can find it in eleven different colours. It is made by a soul in steel, hided in some plastics bricks and by a fabric shade that diffuses the light.
