Ci sono giovani autori che assorbono stili e linguaggi, prosciugano tutto ciò che leggono, trattengono, sedimentano e, una volta spremuti, spruzzano fuori il risultato. Come una spugna. E proprio di Tommaso “Spugna” voglio parlarvi oggi. Bresciano/milanese, classe 1989, sembra davvero essere un onnivoro di fumetto e illustrazione.
Nel suo caso infatti, è evidente che l’assorbimento e il conseguente “rilancio” di produzione artistica produce un risultato davvero interessante. Un segno sicuramente dinamico, a volte sporco ma non per questo troppo anarchico. Di sicuro Spugna si diverte: personaggi grotteschi popolano le sue immagini, rimandi e citazioni non si fanno attendere. In lui ritroviamo il ritmo di una narrazione quasi nipponica e richiami ad autori “pop-underground” come Rafael Granpà, Akab, Ratigher…
Dato il suo stile eclettico, può adattarsi sia al mondo della graphic che a quello dei prodotti seriali. Mentre lo attendiamo al varco, continua con profitto le sue incursioni nel mondo delle autoproduzioni: membro fondatore di “Lucha Libre” magazine, fa parte dello studio milanese Infame Studio. E a breve comparirà sulla neonata rivista Splatter, il cui mostrino qui sotto è una divertente anteprima.
