The story we are telling today it doesn’t take place in a small village, it doesn’t happen in a small reality of rural Italy, where hamlet values reign, as we have seen until now. Today, we try to talk about a wider reality: an Albergo Diffuso placed in a city, such as Viterbo, a urban medieval jewel that fascinates visitor from all over the world. Viterbo, in latin “Vetus Urbs” (old city) is a witness of many centuries of Italian history and it conserves yesterday as today, inside its historical city centre, a real treasure chest made of architectural masterpieces.

Also known as the City of Popes, Viterbo hosted the head office of Popes for more than 20 years, giving to the city great importance both religious and administrative. Placed in a strategic position, Viterbo is near Rome, the precious villages of Todi, Terni, Spoleto and the province of Grosseto, right at the junction of Umbria, Tuscany and Lazio. Beyond the historic centre of incredible value, Viterbo offers the chance to discover some of the most fascinating and enchanting places of our Country, as the Parco dei Mostri di Bomarzo, characterized by mythological stone sculptures that transports visitors in a surreal world. Then, there are the natural Bulicame hot springs, to enjoy a realaxing and regenerating experience.

Right in this incredibly varied and culturally rich territory, there is the Albergo Diffuso Il Paradosso, with its 25 elegant suites tied by the enchanting garden dated back to XIII century that once used to divide the noble part of the city from the slums. Located in the heart of Viterbo historical centre, il Paradosso is surrounded by monuments and ancient walls, in a breathtaking atmosphere. Rooms have been restored maintaining the original architectural elements with wooden lintels and stone walls. Then, there is the restaurant, where guests can enjoy the typical Tuscia’s specialities, always surrounded by the natural beauty of the garden, with tropical palms and stone arches.

The Albergo Diffuso il Paradosso is the ideal place to discover from the inside the fascinating Viterbo, getting in touch with city real life and participating in its main celebrations. Taking part in the traditions of local life that pass on from generation to generation since centuries, creating a culture of unbelievable value. A clear example is the transportation of Macchina di Santa Rosa, which is also a Unesco Immaterial Human Heritage. Every year on September 3rd, all the people march along the streets of the city following this ancient religious procession that unites all the local people in a unique family.
