Trend or trash : the sandal as a tourist

Who would have thought?

Unbelievable but true : the sandal – sock combination, that so much gives that “German tourist on holiday” look, seems to be the new trend for next season (but without the sock , thanks).

We bought dozens of sandals with stiletto heels, convincing ourselves that we could’ve easily handled the “car – restaurant / restaurant – car” short trip… so many times we said no to ultra comfortable reflecting sneakers with soles made of futuristic materials and aerodynamic forms , just in the name of shameless femininity…
Now this can all go to hell , yes, because we’ll be cool with some nice sport sandals, at least this is what we suggest looking at the latest fashion runways .

The so called “Sporty chic” sandals; and among the most popular, certainly those by Prada : colorful , with massive rubber soles , adjustable straps with Velcro and a cascade of colored rhinestones .

Ok , but what we actually struggle with is to match them…. a jeans and … ‘na t-shirt can never be wrong , but the femininity is set aside … a hell of a lot aside!

From the latest collections we have outlined more or less 3 types of sporty sandals: SUPERGLAMOUR, MINIMAL and DIY .

The first is surely best represented by Miuccia, with forms that seem to be designed by NASA engineers , but with a touch of fashion , ranging from crystals to glitter (see also the big rafts by Marni).

To follow, for the ones who love simplicity, a more basic shoe, a reinterpretation of our beloved gladiators or Franciscans, in neutral tones, such the ones by Marc Jacobs or Cèline.

Finally, the ones that even you might be able to make, a sort of “art attack” but in a glamorous version, you just need to have artistic and creative skills,… and a little glue ! See for example, the African style ones by MSGM or the more graphic by MISSONI.
