No hot pants? No Coachella!
In short, we got it: to go to Coachella the ticket wasn’t enough, we needed a dress code too!
If not with a Borsalino panama, a vintage shirt tied under the breasts, hot pants, and Chanel 2.55 you wouldn’t get in.
Yes, yes, we’re just jealous. We didn’t get to dance with Rosie Huntington Witheley, or sip a mojito with Kate Bosworth and his wife and we didn’t even have a selfie with Alessandra Ambrosio… Anyway.
What we did see, though, is that the bohochic still endures despite the strong minimalist trend that has been sweeping the catwalks.
Fringe, paisley patterns, cowboy boots, psychedelic fluorescent colours and extravagant accessories… a Mish mash of styles that, in the end, turns out to be quite pleasing overall.
But the outfit outshining everything else was definitely the hot pants: as wraparound shorts, a comfy cut a little oversized, or in their classic denim version, with that vintage touch.
Alessandra Ambrosio attended both festival weekends, with and without children, showing off different outfits every single day. Our favourite one is the full bras and high-waisted hot pants with Aztec designs, pretty similar to the one designed by Alexander Wang, with rigorous lines and neutral tones.
In the fresh air Sienna Miller is having fun with her friend Poppy Delevingne.
Acknowledged as the undisputed creator of the “boho” style, she is wearing sports shorts – with a ‘pajamas look’ – with micro patterns… let’s say a ‘ready to wear’ version of the overly structured hot pants by Balenciaga.
Possibly the most loved, or at least the best known among the youngest, Selena Gomez, has mixed a classic hot in white denim with a maxi dress in macramé lace. She might have taken the cue from the Burberry Prorsum fashion show, a romantic collection which plays with transparencies in pastel colors.
So if you want a summer festival experience, the right way to start is to put in the closet a nice pair of hot pants!
