I move the city

I change city because I have a new job.
I change city because I want new experiences.
I change city because I follow the person I love.

No!

I change city because it is polluted and overcrowded, rather … I move It!
The same neighbors, the same area code, maybe we add “new” before the name, but we are always a few kilometers farther!

This is not a movie but a concrete idea to solve problems in Tehran.

They talk about this since 1988 to move the capital of Iran; at that time, it was to calm down the reactionary forces in the country after the Gulf War. A few years ago the proposal is back on the ministerial tables, which is sponsored by the former mayor and prime minister Ahmadinejad.
Tehran has more than 13milioni of people with almost a car per inhabitant, with the inevitable consequences of the traffic effect: accidents, pollution, stress. A city that has grown from a small village in the overcrowded capital, with all the problems of a metropolis, without the time to learn how to handle them.

The solution has been found, then, it is move Tehran a few kilometers to the south. Ok it may seem silly. Face the problems, not swing them away, we are used to listen to this from an early age. But think back to urbanization that focuses on the man and not the means, give space to the socialization taking it away from traffic, it is certainly a positive idea. Among other things, it is not the first city that is moved. The dramatic consequences of overcrowding and pollution have been clearly described by the Minister of Health: (i) 4,000 people died last year because of pollution, and (ii) has been ordered to closed school and public offices in January because of too much smog. In addition to this, the prices of primary commodities and rents shoot up, creating worrisome pockets of needy in the city, and it is difficult to rehabilitate them in society.

One of the first “empty-center” measures adopted is lighten the tuition fees of the neighboring towns, so students have begun to leave the capital.

Other capitals have had a similar path, we said …
Predecessors including Brasilia, built from scratch in the 50s and became Brazil’s capital in 1960 after Rio de Janeiro. Abuja in Nigeria was a village when it was decided to relocate the capital there, removing the advantages / disadvantages to the megacity of Lagos. The capital of Kazakhstan is Astana since 1997, it was already a considerable town but since then it has tripled its inhabitants. A million people already living in the new capital of Myanmar, Naypyidaw.

Their decision to relocate the capital cities such as Lagos, Almaty and Yangon have not, however, decreased the problems, but rather, the old capital have continued to grow demographically and remain active and grow as much as the new capital. It is as if double factors which forced the move. The idea of moving a city, therefore, may not be as crazy or insane, but ineffective to solve the problems of overcrowding and especially pollution.

Did we become as gray as the smog?
