Francesco Vezzoli (classe 1971) è uno degli artisti contemporanei italiani più affermati a livello internazionale.
Il suo trascorso artistico vanta molte delle gallerie più celebri come la galleria nazionale del Jeu de Paume (Parigi) e il New Museum of Contemporary art di New York. Le sue opere sono state selezionate tre volte per rappresentare l’Italia all’Esposizione internazionale d’arte della Biennale di Venezia. L’arte di Vezzoli mescola arte figurativa con riferimenti storici a una delle sue tecniche più celebri; l’uncinetto. Questo artista deve infatti al sua fama ai mezzi da lui utilizzati per esprimere la sua arte. La prima tecnica riguarda appunto l’uncinetto con cui ricama lacrime d’oro o color sangue su centrini raffiguranti le sue icone popolari cinematografiche più amate. La seconda è il video, con cui crea veri e propri cortometraggi, trailer e puntate pilota di programmi che non andranno mai in onda. E’ interessante come il mix di cultura cinematografica alta e di trash televisivo generato nelle opere di Vezzoli riporti sempre star del piccolo e grande schermo.
Infatti questo artista è riuscito a coinvolgere nei suoi progetti personaggi come Lady Gaga e Natalie Portman.

Vezzoli art mixes figurative art and historical references to one of his most famous technique: the crochet. This artist became famous thanks to the means he uses to express his art.
