Si torna in Friuli per la quarta volta in questo viaggio attraverso gli Alberghi Diffusi italiani. Non tanto perché ci siamo fissati con le bellezze paesaggistiche di questa regione, non tanto perché vogliamo promuovere una tipica destinazione di montagna proprio ora che l’inverno è alle porte. Piuttosto, si torna in Friuli perché qui l’ospitalità è molto più di una semplice professione: è una vera e propria vocazione, un sentimento naturale che anima i suoi abitanti e che scalda durante la rigida stagione invernale.
We are going back to Friuli region for the fourth time in this literary trip across the Italian Alberghi Diffusi. It is not just because we like the natural beauties of this region or because we are trying to promote a typical mountain destination. Rather, we are going back to Friuli because there, hospitality is more than a simple job: it is a real feeling that animates its residents, a choice of life.
Ancora una volta, dietro all’Albergo Diffuso friulano Forgaria Monte Prat, si nasconde la storia interessante di gente che non si è voluta arrendere al passare del tempo, alla frenesia sempre più alienante della moderna società che ha portato inevitabilmente allo spopolamento delle vallate. Gente silenziosa, quella della Carnia. Gente riflessiva, che a tratti può apparire un po’ introversa, ma che ama non arrendersi mai. Senza la loro determinazione, ora il territorio carnico sarebbe ancora spopolato, distrutto dalla piaga del terremoto del ’76. Invece, importanti opere di recupero sono state avviate già da decenni, nell’ottica di valorizzare non solo la cultura locale, la storia, il patrimonio naturalistico, ma soprattutto le tradizioni, le usanze, le conoscenze che rendono queste vallate dolomitiche, uniche al mondo.
Once again, beyond the Albergo Diffuso Monte Prat, there is an interesting story about people who didn’t want to resign themselves to globalization and to the stressful life of modern society, that leads people to leave the mountain valleys towards big cities. Carnia inhabitants are silent people, meditative, sometimes a little bit introvert, but definitely with a strong character. Without their dedication, today Carnia region would still be unpopulated, destroyed by the terrible earthquake of 1976. Instead, they have started important recovery jobs from decades, focussed to enhance the value of the local culture, history, traditions and knowledge of these dolomitic valleys.
L’altopiano del Monte Prat iniziò a spopolarsi nel corso degli anni ’50, con l’emigrazione dei suoi abitanti verso le moderne industrie e quindi, le città. Il terremoto del 1976 portò ulteriori problemi alla vallata, danneggiando gravemente la maggior parte del patrimonio immobiliare della zona. Quando iniziarono le opere di ristrutturazione e ricostruzione degli abitati, la popolazione del Monte Prat si rese conto dell’immenso patrimonio di cui disponevano e di cui potevano usufruire in seguito a un corretto recupero e promozione. L’idea di creare un Albergo Diffuso dalle antiche abitazioni, utilizzate dai pastori durante il periodo estivo, nasce da alcuni compaesani decisi a mettere l’ospitalità davanti a tutto e a fare conoscere la propria terra, non solo in tutta Italia, ma addirittura nel mondo.
Monte Prat tableland started a depopulation process during the 50s, caused by the emigration of its people toward the modern industries and so, the cities. The earthquake of 1976 brought even more problems to this valley, with heavy damages to most of the buildings. When the recovery actions started, Monte Prat’s population understood the real value of their heritage, that could be used to promote their land. The idea of an Albergo Diffuso created from the old buildings used by shepherds during summertime, was born from a group of residents, who decided to give the right importance to hospitality. But most of all, they were willing to promote their land in Italy and all over the world.
Così oggi è possibile soggiornare nelle bellissime case in pietra e legno, dallo stile tipicamente carnico, ristrutturate secondo i criteri architettonici tradizionali, dotate di ogni comfort e situate su di un balcone naturale di una bellezza incredibile. La natura selvaggia delle dolomiti carniche si esprime nel suo stato più puro e autentico, affacciandosi direttamente sull’infinita pianura friulana. Osservare il mutamento delle stagioni, fermarsi un attimo, sentire il vento fresco che sferza levigando il paesaggio, sentire i profumi e le dolci melodie della natura, che accompagnano lievi ogni istante della giornata: “Ferma il tuo tempo, nelle nostre case di un tempo”, questa è la filosofia dell’AD Monte Prat, il luogo ideale per chi ama, almeno per un breve periodo, riscoprire un mondo antico, autentico, fatto di gesti semplici e genuini.
Today it is possible to accommodate in the beautiful houses made of wood and stones, with a typical style of Carnia, recovered following the traditional architectural standards, endowed of every comfort possible and placed upon a natural balcony of incredible beauty. The wild nature of Carnia Dolomites expresses its purest essence by facing directly the Friuli plains.
